Working with Classes
Documaker Studio uses classes to help manage and classify Documaker documents.
You can apply a class to a Documaker document. You can also remove or change a class that has been applied to a Documaker document, and can create a class.
Tip | In addition to classes, Studio also classifies documents using projects and metadata. |
To apply or manage a Documaker document’s class
- From the Documaker tab, click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the browse button
next to Class.
- In the Classes dialog, to apply a class:
- Double-click a class from the table. The class will be applied and the dialog closes.

- Click a class from the table to highlight, then click OK.
-OR-
- Click a class from the table to highlight it, then click a letter on your keyboard to quickly jump to the first class in the table beginning with that letter.
- You should also assign an Effective Date from the General tab.
You can also:
- Click
to create a class: enter a Name and Description; for naming conventions, see The New Class Dialog
- Remove the class from this document: scroll to the top of the table and select [None]
Your selection is highlighted and will be applied to this document.
- Click OK, then click OK again to save your selection.
